Cold as a Practice, Not a Test

The first thirty seconds in cold water are a negotiation between your reflexes and your attention. Everything valuable happens after you win that negotiation.
Keep exposures short and frequent rather than long and heroic. Two to three minutes, two to four times a week, is enough to train the response.
Exit before you shiver hard, and re-warm passively. Chasing a longer clock trades adaptation for accumulated fatigue.
